Definition
A structured or guided experience offered by or through the accommodation where dogs participate alongside their owners on the property.
Part of the Roch Dog Standard (RDFS-02) · Published by Roch Dog
A structured or guided experience offered by or through the accommodation that is designed to include dogs as participants alongside their owners. This includes on site activities such as organised dog walks, agility sessions, training classes, dog swimming, dog photoshoots, portrait painting sessions, dog spa treatments, and dog tea parties, as well as off site activities arranged by the accommodation such as guided trail walks or partnered experiences with local operators.
General amenities such as access to a garden, availability of a dog shower, or proximity to a park are not activities. An activity requires intentional organisation or curation, not just the existence of a dog suitable space.
Dogs must be physically present at the accommodation for the activity to count. Online or virtual activities do not qualify.
Roch Interpretation
An activity is something the hotel puts on or arranges where dogs actually take part on the property. A photoshoot in the garden counts. A walking route PDF on the website does not. Virtual events run for marketing purposes do not count.
Examples
Compliant
A hotel offers on site dog photoshoots with a local photographer every first Saturday of the month, bookable through reception.
Not compliant
A hotel runs an Instagram 'show us your dog' photo competition from its social media account and lists it as a dog friendly activity on its survey, but no dogs are involved in any on site experience.
