Definition
A stable, non disposable bowl of minimum 18 cm internal diameter, pre staged in the room before arrival.
Part of the Roch Dog Standard (RDFS-02) · Published by Roch Dog
A stable, non disposable food or water vessel made from ceramic, stainless steel, or plastic, with a minimum internal diameter of 18 cm (7 in), equivalent to a standard Labrador sized dog bowl. Bowls must be of sufficient size for a dog to eat and drink from comfortably.
Bowls must be pre staged in the guest room before arrival or at the time of check in. They are not provided only on request.
Travel bowls, disposable containers, paper plates, and owner supplied bowls presented as hotel provision do not meet this definition.
Roch Interpretation
The bowls need to be in the room before the guest arrives, not fetched on request. A fold out silicone travel bowl or a paper plate does not pass regardless of what the welcome pack calls it.
Examples
Compliant
A hotel places two ceramic bowls measuring 20cm diameter in every dog allocated room as part of the standard room setup, present on arrival without the guest asking.
Not compliant
A hotel offers a 'dog welcome pack on request' containing a collapsible travel bowl and a treat; no permanent bowls are staged in the room before arrival.
